The Council Has Spoken – Pitch Review

Tobias – (Still deciding on name)

Concept: Tobias’s digital artefact’s concept is based on a humorous mocking of lockdown. It was suggested that the best way to get through this period is to keep a positive attitude and, of course, to stay safe. This project will be presented as a series of videos on Tik Tok.

Methodology: This digital artefact will take place on the popular social media app Tik Tok, as previously stated. The plan is to post one to two (perhaps three) videos per week, according to the schedule. However, the amount of time available to create this content is restricted. I feel this is entirely possible, especially given the fact that we are in lockdown, but the constraints imposed by other studies and activities are understandable. During the pitch video, the value of the notion “FIST” (fast, inexpensive, simple, and tiny) was outlined very well. Tobias intends to keep the cost of this project low and get content onto the platform as quickly as possible, so he’ll be using editing software like imovie and filming on his phone.

Utility: Tobias expressed his strong belief in positivity and stated that his goal is to make at least one person smile. This, in my opinion, is the mentality we need to get through difficult periods like isolation, lockdown, and the pandemic. This digital artefact has the potential to connect this to the concept of good health and wellness. Mental health is crucial, and this lockdown has had an impact on not only mine, but others’ as well. I believe that using humour to communicate happiness while also shedding focus on excellent health and wellbeing would add to the project’s significance.

Improvement: The concept for this project is fantastic, but the execution of the delivery may be better. By stating this, I believe that more videos (there are currently two) should be published, and that the content should be more focused on strategies to get through the lockdown and keep yourself occupied while enjoying funny skits in between. Personally, I’ve ran out of ways to keep myself engaged, therefore I’m feeling desperate. Tobias could use this to his advantage.

Quality: The concept, approach, and connections to the subject content, such as the discourse about fragility, were all clearly stated in the pitch for this project. I would have loved to see a feedback loop and a clear outline of where this project is headed in the future. Overall, I’m enjoying the comedy, and Tobias, if you’re reading this, when will tickets for your upcoming comedy performance be available?

Frank – Moriboys

Concept: “Moriboys,” Frank’s digital artefact, is a hip-hop-inspired streetwear apparel line. This line will be created in collaboration with other Australian hip-hop artists in order to generate additional revenue and high-quality merchandise for Australian fans.

Methodology: Moriboys content will be available on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Spotify, Tik Tok, and Square Space, among other channels. The ideal plan suggested is for content to be delivered three to four times per week across different platforms, establishing a great image for the business and demonstrating their commitment.Frank’s long-term ambition is to finish his first line and begin working on future partnerships. This is significant because it demonstrates their commitment to the project in terms of effort, time, and affection.

Utility: During the pitch, there were a few of comments made about the project’s meaning. For starters, Frank has witnessed a drop in earnings for hip-hop musicians in Australia, particularly since the outbreak. Second, there is a more “localised” problem of not enough hip-hop-related merchandise for the Australian market. I’ve personally witnessed the effects of being surrounded by artists. Having been surrounded by artists, I’ve witnessed firsthand the difficulties they encountered throughout the pandemic, whether it was a lack of revenue or a struggle to provide items and content for their fans.

Improvement: It’s difficult to bring out areas where Frank could improve because he’s already done everything that was required. As my proposal, I feel he should post more to his Instagram reels, or even create a product prototype and film a video about it. Because the channels he has selected to support this digital artefact are built on visual content, he could take advantage of this and catch the attention of the public.

Quality: The pitch lays out a clear chronology of what will happen in the future, as well as the motivations behind the project’s significance and the usefulness of feedback loops. I’m really looking forwards to seeing the stuff that’s been created, and perhaps I’ll be able to buy some sick goods.
